Back to Episodes#465: Malachi's EA Cover | Feed Me and Throw Me Fastballs
Description
Nick Saban showed up to Congress, FSU's recruiting class lost its last blue chip to Wisconsin, and Miami just ripped another five-star out of Lane Kiffin's hands. Episode 465 of Orange Bowl Boys does not slow down for anybody.
The boys open with a charity ad parody so good they play it twice — Florida State football, starring a walk-on long snapper named Chad and a kicker who's only there for the meal plan. For just 60 cents a day, you can help.
From there it's all Miami. Malachi Toney just became the cover athlete for EA College Football '27, and the guys break down what that means for the program — the recruiting pitch, the national visibility, the cultural weight of having a kid from South Florida own the biggest college game on the market. Then comes the honest question nobody wants to answer: is a sophomore slump coming? Defensive coordinators know who he is now. The conversation on Cooper Barkate, Josh Moore, and whether this offense is actually deeper than last year's numbers will suggest is one of the better breakdowns they've done all year.
Nick Saban in front of Congress goes exactly how you'd expect — the right message delivered by the absolute wrong messenger. The guys break down the NIL arms race, whether a hard salary cap actually fixes anything or just pushes the money back under the table, and why the Bernie Madoff reference is a lot more apt than anyone wants to admit.
There's also a quick word on the Miami AD situation — the Yorkmark deal that was apparently done a month ago suddenly isn't. Toast called it. The guys react. Mark Fletcher's mom discovering her son on a billboard is everything. The guys have a whole campaign idea that honestly Miami should steal immediately.
The back half gets into baseball — the NCAA tournament, the home field advantage debate, and a genuinely heated argument about whether pitchers have earned the right to celebrate strikeouts.
Good show, boys. Go 'Canes.
