Published 1 week, 4 days ago
Description
Maurice Nadeau, a 72-year-old military veteran from Chapais, Quebec, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for smuggling 7.2 kilograms of heroin into Canada from South Africa.
The sentencing was handed down by Quebec Court Judge Éric de Champlain, who denied a defense request for Nadeau to serve his sentence within the community, citing the necessity to denounce drug trafficking as a severe "social scourge".
