Justice Department scraps Trumps anti-weaponization fund after pushback from Congress
Published 1 week, 5 days ago
Description
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has permanently scrapped plans for Donald Trump's controversial $1.8 billion "anti-weaponization fund" following intense backlash from Congress and critical legal setbacks. The fund faced severe bipartisan criticism. Senate Republicans, including Senate Majority Leader John Thune, refused to support it. The controversy completely stalled a crucial $70 billion immigration enforcement funding bill because lawmakers refused to advance it while the fund existed.
