TIP #69 – Getting Comfortable with TMD w/ Clin. A/ Professor Dr Tony Au
Description
Welcome to What I Wish I Knew by Dental Head Start. This is a podcast where we learn from people that have been there, made the mistakes, learnt the lessons and have developed into the accomplished dental professionals they are today.
It’s your weekly mentoring session.
Tackling a TMD case may not be the first thing a new grad dentist , albeit, an experienced one, would be comfortable doing. When we think TMD, we tend to think this patient has problems outside the mouth and problems that are hard to pinpoint… Is it the jaw, the muscles, a cranial nerves, brain, ear, or even something more physological in nature? If you’ve come across patients like these, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
This week I speak with Dr. Tony Au about his love for treating TMD patients, and ways YOU can start treating these cases, too. Tony’s practice is dedicated to treating patients with complex TMD issues, and he talks about what to lookout for to determine if a case would be within the scope of a general practitioner, or one that should be referred to a specialist. This is what Tony does day in, day out and you can hear the passion is his voice, so be like a sponge and soak up all this great information. Enjoy the episode!
