Underworld identity Mick Gatto and his wife Cheryl were arrested at their Mount Martha home by Taskforce Hawk officers investigating corruption and criminal activity on Victoria's major infrastructure projects including the Suburban Rail Loop and North East Link. The 70-year-old, who describes himself as a construction industry mediator, was earlier this year accused in a corruption report of running extortion rackets and wielding malignant influence over the Victorian building industry. Both remain in custody being interviewed, with no charges laid at this stage.
