Description
September 1997. A woman named Carrie Pendelton vanishes from a gas station on Route 9 in western Massachusetts. Luna grew up two towns over, and she remembers the flyers, the search parties, the way the leaves turned early that year. Twenty years later, Luna drives that road at midnight and sees a girl in a white dress standing at the edge of the Pontoosuc Lake causeway. The girl is wet. She isn't shivering. And when Luna slows down, the girl points at the water. What Luna finds at the bottom of the lake changes everything she thought she knew about that autumn. This is a story about what drifts, what waits, and what comes home when you least expect it.
