Murder Trial Begins For 17-Year-Old Accused Of Stabbing Fellow Teen At High School Track Meet

Published 3 days, 13 hours ago
Description

Jury selection is underway for 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony who is facing life in prison for the stabbing death of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a track meet in Texas last year. Extra security is in place at the courthouse and there is a strict electronic gag for members of the media given all the racial tensions that have erupted in the aftermath of the murder. Anthony is black, Metcalf was white,  and a significant amount of misinformation has circulated online that resulted in death threats for both the victim’s and the defendant’s families over the past several months.
