When We Outgrow Where We Are
Sometimes we reach a point where we can no longer remain exactly where we have been.
Not because the place is bad.
Not because the people are wrong.
Not because we have stopped being grateful for what has brought us this far.
Sometimes growth requires us to leave what is familiar behind.
We are reminded of Abram, who heard these words from God:
“Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.” — Genesis 12:1
Abram was asked to leave home, family, and everything he knew.
He did not know where he was going.
He did not know how long the journey would take.
He did not know what challenges he would encounter along the way.
He only knew that he was being invited forward.
There are moments in our lives like that.
A job changes.
Children grow up.
A friendship shifts.
A role no longer fits.
A new possibility begins to emerge before we can fully understand it.
Growth requires movement, and becoming often requires leaving something familiar behind.
