A Prayer for When We Feel Pressure to Be Productive
Loving God,
we live with so much pressure
to accomplish.
To produce.
To keep up.
To prove ourselves.
And sometimes,
without even realizing it,
we begin to believe
that our value depends
on what we achieve.
Help us remember
that our value is intrinsic.
That it does not need
to be earned.
That we do not have
to prove our worth.
When we feel overwhelmed
by expectations,
help us let go
of what is not ours to carry.
Help us pay attention
to the things that bring life.
The things we do well.
The things that help others.
The things that leave us
a little more alive
as we do them.
And help us discover
how we can make the world
a little better for someone else
and a little warmer
for ourselves.
Amen.
