Episode 85 Published 2 months, 4 weeks ago
Description
MSK Complications, Functional Outcomes, and the Rehabilitation Continuum. Part of the Spinal Cord Injury series of the Reflex PM&R Board Review podcast. Audio correction: In the audio: knee-ankle-foot orthoses (KAFOs) are for injuries from L1 down to L3, and AFOs from L4 to S1 — Correct: KAFOs (which lock the knee) are for the thoracic levels through L2, where the quadriceps aren't yet functional. The quadriceps come online at L3, so from L3 through S1 the patient switches to ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs). KAFO through L2; AFO from L3. The written chapter is correct. The full companion chapter and a linked board-style Q-bank set for this topic are at https://www.reflexpmr.com/read/SCI-14.
