Dane County weighs 18-month data center moratorium
Published 1 week, 4 days ago
Description
County leaders wouldn’t be able to consider or approve new data center development for eighteen months, under a resolution that the full county board is slated to take up at their meeting on Thursday, June 4th.
A slew of county supervisors have already signed on as sponsors of the resolution, including Aria Trucios – a power plant operator elected last month to represent Madison’s far west side on the county board. They told our News Producer Faye Parks this afternoon that the temporary moratorium would buy the county some much-needed time to research the impacts of data centers – and consider policy changes to address them.
