Description
September 1987. A dry stretch of county road in Stillwater County, Montana. Luna's car overheats outside a town that doesn't appear on any map — a place called Gravelot, population never more than a few dozen. The gas station attendant, a woman named Delia who hasn't seen a customer in weeks, is the only person around. She offers Luna a glass of iced tea and a story about the road that leads out of town — the one that loops back no matter which way you turn. Luna stays the night in the station's back room, listening to the sound of tires on gravel that never seem to arrive or leave. By morning she understands that Gravelot isn't a place you find by accident, and it isn't a place you leave behind the same way you came. A quiet, atmospheric episode about liminal spaces, the kindness of strangers who might not be entirely real, and the roads that only exist at the edges of things.
