Free nasal flu vaccine expanded to all NSW children

Free nasal flu vaccine expanded to all NSW children

Published 3 weeks, 4 days ago
Description
The NSW State Government has expanded its free nasal spray flu vaccine programme to include all children up to age 17, after initially only targeting younger children. Current vaccination rates remain concerningly low, with only 15% of children and 40% of over-65s immunised despite last year recording more than 185,000 confirmed flu cases across the state. Health authorities are particularly worried about severe strains observed during the Northern Hemisphere's winter, which could extend Australia's flu season well into spring.
