Episode Details

South Carolina Gamecocks has officially cancelled its future home-and-home football series with North Carolina Tar Heels — and on today’s episode, we explain why South Carolina fans shouldn’t be upset about it.

The Gamecocks are making a business decision in a changing college football landscape, and frankly, there’s no reason for South Carolina to become the guinea pig for scheduling philosophies that the rest of the Power Four refuses to adopt.

On today’s show, we break down:

Why South Carolina cancelled the UNC series
Why this move actually makes sense for the Gamecocks
The unfair scheduling expectations placed on SEC teams
Why the Power Four still refuses to operate under the same rules
How College Football Playoff expansion changes scheduling strategy
Whether tough non-conference games are still worth the risk
Why Greg Sankey and the SEC are pushing back against current playoff structures

We also preview the upcoming SEC Spring Meetings and discuss:

Greg Sankey’s likely stance on a potential 24-team College Football Playoff
Why the SEC could aggressively push for more guaranteed spots
What Shane Beamer could say publicly about scheduling and playoff expansion
How the future of college football scheduling may drastically change

Is South Carolina ahead of the curve… or just adapting to the reality everyone else is already playing by?
