Wisconsin’s finances “relatively strong” after surplus deal fails

Wisconsin’s multibillion-dollar projected surplus could have turned into a nearly 3 billion dollar deficit by 2029, if a spending deal Governor Evers spent months negotiating with Republican leaders was signed into law. That’s according to a new analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau, which came out just days after the deal died in the state Senate.
Tyler Byrnes, a senior research associate at Wisconsin Policy Forum, joined our News Producer Faye Parks this afternoon to break down the numbers.
