שיעור היומי ברמב"ם הוא הל' נזירות, שענינו הוא כמו ענין ה"נדרים" (שמו של אאמו"ר ז"ל "לוי יצחק" בגימ' "נדר"). בענין הנדרים בא לידי ביטוי כחו של יהודי לקחת דבר חולין ולפעול בו קדושה ע"י דיבורו בלבד. ועד"ז ענין ה"נזירות": כאשר יהודי לוקח ע"ע התחייבות מסויימת לכבודו של הקב"ה, אפי' בדבר קל ופשוט, ולדוגמא שלא יגלח שערותיו במשך ל' יום – ניתוספה אצלו קדושה יתירה ["קדוש יהי'"], וגורם עי"ז נח"ר ותענוג מיוחד להקב"ה. ובמילא זהו גם טובתו של האדם – שהרי זהו זכות הכי גדול לגרום נח"ר להקב"ה, וגם מכיון שבשכר זה נותן לו הקב"ה שפע ברכות.

Today’s Rambam is in the Laws of Nezirus, which is a form of vow (neder – which has the same Gematria as Levi Yitzchok, the name of the Rebbe’s father). A neder demonstrates a Jew’s power to take something ordinary and mundane and sanctify even through his speech alone. Similarly regarding nezirus: When a Jew undertakes a certain commitment in honor of Hashem, even if it something easy and simple (for example refraining from cutting his hair for thirty days like a Nazir), he becomes holier and brings particular satisfaction and pleasure to Hashem. It follows that this also benefits the person himself, because to cause Hashem pleasure is the greatest merit, and because Hasheem rewards him for it.
