Description
King David is one of the most familiar figures in the Bible. Most people imagine him as the shepherd, the Psalmist and the underdog who defeats Goliath. But is this only one side to the biblical David? To find out, Helen and Lloyd take a trip in the Biblical Time Machine with Professor David Shepherd, who has argued that there is a very different side to David's story.
David J. Shepherd is Professor in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament at Trinity College Dublin and founding director of the Trinity Centre for Biblical Studies. His research interests include the Hebrew Bible - Ezra & Nehemiah (2018), its reception in the Second Temple Period - Targum and Translation (2004), and its afterlife in the visual and performing arts - The Bible on Silent Film (2013), and Bertolt Brecht and the David Fragments (2020). He is the author of King David, Innocent Blood, and Bloodguilt(OUP, 2023).
