Edward Rennell: Greyhound Racing NZ CEO on the plan to send 70 dogs to race in Australia

Description

Greyhound Racing New Zealand's boss says perspective's needed, as the agency considers flying dogs to Australia.

The sport's formally banned in New Zealand from July 31, but GRNZ is considering chartering a plane to fly up to 70 dogs to Queensland.

One activist's claimed money's being put ahead of the dogs' welfare.

GRNZ CEO Edward Rennell says no decision has been made.

"All we are doing is gauging whether there's any interest from our participants in sending some dogs to Australia. We're projecting there's going to be about 1700 dogs still to be rehomed at 31 July."
