Obsession (2025) | Does Curry Barker's Divisive Horror Live Up to the Hype? ft. Raiders of the Podcast & EF Contentment

Jose (Cupcake) and Mike (WillDaBeast) bring back two beloved pod guests — Kevin from Raiders of the Podcast and E.f. Contentment — for a spoiler-free review of Obsession (2025), the polarizing TIFF sensation from YouTube filmmaker Curry Barker, now distributed by Blumhouse.

Part Gen Z Fatal Attraction, part Ari Aster descent-into-dread, Obsession arrives loaded with hype, and the crew debates whether it earns every bit of it. Starring Michael Johnston and a star-making Indy Navarrete, this is a horror film with layers: a monkey's paw premise modernized into something raw, uncomfortable, and genuinely hard to shake. Imagine Hereditary meets May meets Fresh — and you're still not quite there.

The Boyz cover Barker's origin story (including his debut $800 found footage film Milk & Serial), the film's consent and mental health subtext, and whether Indy Navarrete is the next Mia Goth. All spoiler-free.
