Af: Die Karoo-son het sy laaste goue strale oor die uitgestrekte rooi stofpad gegooi.
En: The Karoo-sun cast its last golden rays over the vast red dust road.
Af: Op dié pad was 'n blou bakkie besig om stadig voort te ploeg.
En: On that road, a blue pickup truck was slowly plowing forward.
Af: Binne-in die bakkie het Elmarie bestuur, haar oë op die horison gefokus, vasbeslote om betyds by die familiebraai aan te kom.
