Description
The ghost light is out. The audience is silent. Luna stands alone on the stage of the Theater on Bleecker, the final word of Marguerite's play still caught in her throat. The shadow woman watches from the balcony. The curtain is poised to fall. Luna knows that if she speaks that last line, she will become the play—a ghost bound to the theater forever, like Lydia, like Clara, like all the others. But the theater is writing itself around her. The stage directions are creeping into reality. She can feel the words forming in her mouth, the script pulling at her tongue. The only way out is to stop the performance before it finishes. But the audience demands an encore, and the shadow woman has other plans. This episode, Luna confronts the heart of the theater's hunger. She discovers a forgotten corridor behind the stage, a room filled with the ashes of burned scripts. Clara's letters spoke of a way to unwrite the play, but Clara never returned. The end is here, and Luna must choose: die as Marguerite, or live as a ghost.
