The Final Curtain
Description
Luna stands onstage, the ghost light extinguished, the words of the unfinished play rising unbidden from her throat. The shadow woman watches from the balcony, the audience of hollow figures applauds, and the theater itself seems to breathe. As Luna delivers her lines, she feels the script taking shape around her, the final act writing itself into her bones. But when she reaches the penultimate page, she falters—the words are not hers, but Lydia's, and they lead to a noose. The shadow woman offers a choice: die as Marguerite, or live as a ghost in the wings. Luna realizes the theater has been feeding on her performance, and the only way to survive is to leave the stage before the final word. She runs for the exit, but the aisles stretch, the seats multiply, and the audience's whispers become a single command: 'Encore.' This episode explores the cost of art, the soul of a performance, and the terror of a role you cannot stop playing.
