The Battle of Tabuk was not just a military expedition — it was a test of faith, sincerity, sacrifice, and patience. As the believers prepared themselves in extreme heat, long distances, and difficult conditions, the hypocrites began spreading discouragement, mockery, and doubt among the Muslims.
Some mocked the believers for giving charity. Others stayed behind and made excuses. Some even insulted the reciters and companions of the Prophet ﷺ, leading Allah to reveal verses exposing their hypocrisy forever.

Allah said:

“And if you ask them, they will surely say: ‘We were only conversing and joking.’ Say: ‘Was it Allah, His verses, and His Messenger that you were mocking?’”
