Bain Fire in Riverside: 25% Contained, Evacuations Still Active

Published 5 days, 10 hours ago
Description

The Bain fire in Riverside and Jurupa Valley, sparked on May 19th, has reached 1,375 acres with 25% containment by Wednesday morning. Despite progress, evacuation orders and warnings remain active. The fire, which moved rapidly, damaged structures and nearly engulfed the Western Riverside Animal Shelter. Four individuals were injured, including one with a serious injury and three with smoke inhalation. Drones flown by civilians temporarily grounded firefighting aircraft. Looking ahead, the Inland Empires mid-eighties to low-nineties temperatures and low humidity will make firefighting challenging. Meanwhile, the Verona fire in Riverside County, also causing evacuations, is under investigation and has not reported containment.
