The United States on Wednesday indicted the former leader of communist Cuba, Raúl Castro, for his alleged role in the 1996 shooting down of two planes carrying Americans. Preliminary data from the FBI show that the violent crime rate in the United States declined sharply in 2025, by 9.3 percent from the year before. This marks the fastest rate of decline in nearly 90 years.
