Af: Annelie help hom uit die verleentheid.
En: Annelie helps him out of the embarrassment.

Af: “Dis 'n strelitzia, lief as jy goed kan sien,” giggel sy.
En: “It's a strelitzia, dear if you can see well,” she giggles.

Af: "Oh! Ja, natuurlik," sê Jaco en bloos.
En: "Oh! Yes, of course," says Jaco, blushing.

Af: Hy voel 'n bietjie verskuldig en hoop sy oë raak gou gewoond aan die situasie.
En: He feels a bit guilty and hopes his eyes quickly get used to the situation.
