US closes borders amid Central Africa Ebola outbreak
Published 1 week ago
Description
The United States has implemented travel restrictions banning entry to non-passport holders who have visited Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, or Uganda within the past 21 days. The Ebola outbreak in Central Africa has resulted in more than 500 suspected cases and over 130 suspected deaths, with the World Health Organisation declaring it a public health emergency. Health authorities are deploying additional testing resources and contact tracing efforts to contain the spread of the virus, which transmits through bodily fluids and currently has no vaccine.
