Sometimes we try to do the right thing,
and things still go wrong.
We still lose people.
Still get hurt.
Still face failure, disappointment, and even betrayal.
“He will guard the feet of his faithful ones…”

The Hebrew word translated “guard”
is shamar —
to keep watch over,
to carefully attend to,
to remain mindful of.
It is not a promise
that suffering will never come.
But a reminder
that we have not been abandoned
to the darkness around us.
Even in the hardest places,
God walks with us.
And we walk with each other.
