The Fear Of The Lord | Episode 1 | Learning To Fear Him
Description
What does it really mean to fear God? The Bible speaks about fear in seemingly contradictory ways. For many believers, the fear of the Lord is one of the most misunderstood concepts in Scripture. The Bible says God has not given us a spirit of fear and that perfect love casts out fear. Yet throughout Scripture, we are also commanded to fear the Lord, and tremendous blessings are promised to those who do.
In the new series, “The Fear of the Lord,” Duane Sheriff explains the distinction between the two types of fear found in Scripture: ungodly, tormenting fear that separates us from God, and the fear of the Lord—a wholesome, reverential fear that draws us into intimacy with Him. Understanding this distinction is critical to our spiritual lives. When we learn how God’s love through the cross has removed every reason for tormenting fear, we can approach Him with confidence, knowing we are righteous in Christ. At the same time, a healthy reverence for God’s holiness, power, and majesty keeps us from sin and draws us closer to Him.
