Access to healthcare remains a challenge for many women and newborns in South Sudan’s remote communities, where distance, shortages of health workers and limited services continue to put lives at risk. Yet health officials say progress is being made, with maternal deaths declining and new initiatives seeking to bring care closer to underserved populations.
