Government Says Pipeline Won't Cause "Visible Day-To-Day Difference" To River Shannon

Published 3 weeks, 6 days ago
Description
The Government insists the proposed pipeline from the River Shannon to the Greater Dublin Area won't make a "visible day-to-day difference" to water supply and quality in this region. The €6 billion 170-kilometre pipeline, which would begin in the Parteen Basin, would see an average of 2% of the Shannon's average flow abstracted daily. Construction is due to begin in 2028 and conclude in 2032. Speaking in the Dáil, Fianna Fáil Minister of State at the Department of Justice, Niall Collins, doesn't believe there's cause for concern.
