The future of the former Shannon Shamrock Hotel site is once again under the spotlight after An Coimisiún Pleanála refused planning permission for a major housing development there. The prominent site has remained derelict for more than a decade, despite various proposals over the years ranging from reopening the hotel to ideas for tourism and commercial developments. The latest refusal has reignited debate over what should happen next at one of the most high-profile locations in Bunratty.
