Examples:

1- Imagine someone applies for a new job. They prepare carefully, go to the interview, and answer every question. After the interview ends, they can’t really do anything else.

2- “I’ve explained my side clearly. The ball is in his court now.” Or: “We’ve done everything we can. Now the ball is in their court
