The mystery of the MV Joyita is often called "the Mary Celeste of the South Pacific." On October 3, 1955, the merchant vessel set sail from Samoa for the Tokelau Islands with 25 people on board. Two days later, it was found drifting in the open ocean, partially submerged and listing heavily, with absolutely no one on board.
