Description

This is a rebroadcast of an interview I did on the Wellness Force Radio with my friend Josh Trent. In this conversation, I probably get a little too raw and real about my past struggles with relationships and intimacy, and how that’s finally changed when I found true, healthy love. This is going to be helpful to anyone else having problems with intimacy in their lives.

We talk about:

  • My decision to participate in plant medicine ceremonies and why it was so challenging for me to make that decision.
  • Unpacking my family's history including alcoholism, abuse, neglect, and how that impacted my life and relationships at a young age.
  • Why I avoided being close to or emotionally intimate with anyone from a young age and how that has changed over the years.
  • How kundalini yoga has especially helped me get in touch with myself along my healing journey.
  • My past definition of ‘freedom‘ and the moment I realized that I had actually imprisoned myself.
  • The addictions I have quit to help me gather greater awareness and consciousness.
  • The 12-step groups that focused on helping people with dysfunctional behavior such as sex addiction, love addiction, and issues in relationships.
  • How I was shown in a number of different plant medicine ceremonies that I am now done repeating my old childhood patterns.
  • What I am doing to help avoid falling back into those old patterns.
  • The challenges that Alyson and I are still going through and working on to build a stronger relationship.
  • How I have heightened my awareness of negative thought and speaking patterns to improve my relationships.
  • Unpacking the ego and why it is actually a vital part of who we are as humans.
  • The healthy boundaries I set for myself when I was ready to start dating again.
  • The relationship I had with my mom and dad as a kid and how that perpetuated various behavior patterns.
  • Why it's so important to have a conscious pathway to attend a plant medicine ceremony.
  • How it's a beautiful thing for men to cry and express their emotions.
  • Relationship advice my father gave me and what it has been like for me to now be in a long-term commitment.
  • Why it's good to take a new relationship slowly and consciously instead of going all in and becoming obsessed about it.
  • My experience participating in several peyote ceremonies as a couple and how that impacted us early on in the relationship.
  • How my past fears of commitment came up for me during the peyote ceremonies.
  • How my plans for navigating relationships and boundaries have shifted with our relationship.
  • Exploring intuitive awareness plus when and whether we should open our hearts or protect ourselves.
  • Why being too serious all the time can be harmful to our wellbeing and life journey.
  • The importance of not approaching current events with fear.
  • Exploring the nature of reality and what is actually happening beneath the surface in society.

This is a deep and powerful episode, and Josh is an amazing interviewer who brings things out in me that I never thought I would talk about publicly. This vulnerability is bound to help somebody and serve your highest g
