Go4IT: 20 Years of Empowering Mid-West Youth
Description
Go4IT Program Celebrates 20 Years, Empowering Students for Higher Education
The Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) marked two decades of its Go4IT program, a six-year initiative supporting students from primary to secondary school in the Mid-West region. Initially a bridge between primary and secondary education, Go4IT has evolved into a comprehensive support system, partnering with local schools and community centers.
With over 1,400 student-years of support, Go4IT has helped students build skills and confidence, with many going on to pursue higher education. TUS Vice President Frances O’Connell and Thomond Primary Principal Sinéad Toomey praised the program for its role in fostering community strength and encouraging students to aim high.
One such success story is Luke Hogan, a Go4IT alum who completed his law and taxation degree at TUS and now works as an assistant tax manager. Hogan also volunteered with Go4IT, sharing his experiences through workshops and campus tasters.
Looking ahead, Go4IT plans to continue its support with new activities like STEM sessions and music production, ensuring a bright future for the next generation of students in the Northside region.
