Description
Pirates Shake Up Roster: Endy Rodríguez, Brandan Bidois Join the Team
The Pirates have made some roster moves ahead of their series against the Rockies at PNC Park. Catcher Endy Rodríguez and right-hander Brandan Bidois have been called up from Triple-A Indianapolis, while Joey Bart and Cam Sanders have been optioned.
Rodríguez, a 25-year-old, has been impressive in the minors this year, batting .210 with a .301 slugging percentage in 34 games. He played 18 games with the big club last season before elbow surgery ended his year.
Bidois, a 24-year-old Australian, is making history as the first player from his country to suit up for the Pirates. He had a dominant minor league season last year, going 8-0 with a sub-1.00 ERA in 61 innings. This season in Indy, hes 3-2 with a 7.20 ERA in 15 innings.
Bart was batting .259 before the injury, but hes been on fire lately, hitting .450 with a homer and 3 RBI in his last 6 games. Sanders struggled in his 5 big-league outings, giving up 6 runs in 5 innings, and had a 5.99 ERA in the minors.
These moves give the Pirates fresh arms and a new catcher just in time for the stretch run. Keep an eye on Bidoiss debut, as he could spark something new in the bullpen.
