SERIES RECAP: Chicago Cubs drop series in Texas with back to back tough offensive performances
Description
The Chicago Cubs head to Atlanta after dropping their weekend series to the Texas Rangers in Arlington.
After opening the series with a strong 7-1 win, the Cubs' offense went cold in the final two games, getting shut out on back-to-back days as the Rangers stormed back to take the series. On Sunday, Jacob deGrom turned back the clock, striking out 10 Cubs hitters over seven dominant innings in a 3-0 Texas victory.
Despite another solid outing from Jameson Taillon, the Cubs managed just three hits and were unable to solve deGrom as their first series loss in nearly a month became official.
Even with the setback, the Cubs remain one of baseball’s hottest teams and still sit atop the NL Central with a 27-14 record. A tough weekend in Texas, but there’s no reason to panic. Can the Cubs bounce back and get the bats going again in Atlanta?
