Carolina Hurricanes Make NHL History With Flyers Sweep | First 8-0 Since 1985 Edmonton Oilers
Description
OG After Dark is live from Philadelphia — and the Carolina Hurricanes are making NHL history. The Canes pulled off the double sweep to start the Stanley Cup Playoffs 8-0 becoming the first team to do so since the 1985 Edmonton Oilers who went all the way to 9-0. Carolina got there by shaking off a first period deficit and surviving a gut punch moment in the second period when an initial lead changing goal was wiped off the board after NHL review determined there was goalie interference from William Carrier. That was followed by the Flyers tying the game 2-2 after Logan Stankoven notched his 7th goal of the playoffs. The Canes held their composure to get this thing to overtime, where Jackson Blake scored the game winner to close the serious out.
