Episode Details

Could 2026 finally be the year everything comes together for South Carolina Gamecocks football?

One of the biggest reasons might be something almost nobody is talking about: the schedule.

In this episode of the Locked On Gamecocks, we break down why South Carolina may have its easiest football schedule in the last 10–20 years and how that could become a massive advantage for Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks heading into a pivotal season.

From SEC timing breaks to favorable road spots and avoiding some of the conference’s toughest situations, the path is there for South Carolina to make real noise in 2026. Combined with elite recruiting momentum, improved depth, and rising star power on the roster, this is another major strength flying under the radar nationally.

We discuss:

Why South Carolina’s 2026 schedule is far more manageable than recent years
The SEC matchups that set up favorably for the Gamecocks
Why national media may be overlooking this advantage
How schedule strength impacts playoff and win-total expectations
Why this could be the most complete roster of the Shane Beamer era

We also spend time honoring former Gamecock quarterback Stephen Garcia after news surfaced that he has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.

Stephen remains one of the most unforgettable and beloved players in South Carolina football history, and we share some of our favorite stories and memories from his legendary time in Columbia — from huge upsets to unforgettable moments that helped shape an era of Gamecock football.

We’ve also included a link to Stephen Garcia’s GoFundMe in the show notes for anyone who would like to support him and his family during this fight.
