Pit launched today from stealth with $16 million in seed funding led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Lakestar, the Stena and Lundin families, and angels from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Deel, and Revolut. Founded by the founders and CTO/AI leads of Klarna, Voi, and iZettle, Pit positions itself as an "AI product team as a service," building production-grade custom software for enterprise operations in days rather than months. The launch arrives directly into the post-SaaSpocalypse market, where roughly $285 billion in SaaS market capitalization evaporated in February 2026 and Retool's enterprise survey found 35% of teams have already replaced at least one SaaS tool with a custom build, with 78% planning to build more in 2026. The founder pedigree matters because Klarna documented the playbook publicly: 90% of its employees use AI tools daily, with adoption above 85% across communications, marketing, legal, engineering, and analytics. The pattern was never generic chatbots. It was custom software built into each workflow. Pit's bet is that this playbook can be productized, sold to every enterprise that cannot build it themselves, and shipped in days. Early enterprise pilots include Voi, Tre, Stena Recycling, and Kry, with disclosed results including an 85% reduction in campaign execution time, 10,000+ hours saved annually per deployment, 99% invoice acceptance rates, and zero validation errors at the largest industrial deployment. The AI-native custom enterprise software category is projected to grow at roughly 98% CAGR through 2030, the fastest-growing segment within the broader AI software stack. Alex Rampell at a16z called it "a new category." The next four quarters will say whether Pit defines it or shares it.
