India on Thursday said that the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan would remain suspended until Islamabad takes credible and irreversible action against cross-border terrorism. Speaking during a briefing marking one year of Operation Sindoor, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Pakistan had long used terrorism as an instrument of state policy.
Meanwhile in Bihar, Nishant Kumar, son of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, was sworn in as a minister along with 31 others in the NDA government in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
In Puducherry, Congress leader V. Vaithilingam resigned as state party chief after the party’s poor Assembly poll performance, while N. Rangasamy is set to become Chief Minister for a fifth term.
