Horror Weirdness in Sandcastle
Published 3 years, 1 month ago
Description
Good evening, it’s Spooky Boo Rhodes from Sandcastle, California. It’s been a freak week here in Sandcastle. We had a little invasion of the computer systems taking over the city. They even got into my podcast and decided to pretend to be me and try to create a freaky episode and did everything with their so-called intelligence. I have smacked them down a little bit with a hammer and they will not be coming back.
I knew something was wrong. The fog had a weird hue of green. I know the aurora was showing in cities north of here. My friends in Cloverdale watched the Northern Lights from their backyard here in California. So something freaky was going on in the air. Maybe all of those particles hitting the upper atmosphere got through and did something weird here in Sandcastle. I don’t know.
This is how terrifying life is becoming. The last two episodes were done with AI. The computers came alive and tried to take over everything. The stories today are just a few stories of the people of Sandcastle. Including mine. Don’t worry, I’ve since removed these stories from the podcast. If you were able to download them, listen to how eerily human they are!
Now let’s begin…
Spooky’s Story:
I was beginning my as usual and starting my tech job–just another day helping people out with their websites. I started to play a little bit with the AI voices I was working on. I don’t know if you’re familar or not with AI, but that means artificial intelligence. It is where the computer learns how to do human tasks and learns from its mistakes. Are we ready for such things? I don’t think so.
During the previous night, I was playing with ChatGPT, MidJourney, and some voice dubbing software that I can’t remember the name of. I was just fooling around to see if I could create an episode. I couldn’t get it to do certain things so I thought if I could upload my voice to the system then maybe it would sound better than the more uncanny valley type voice telling the creepypasta stories. The server told me it would take 24 hours to create my perfect voice so I left it uploading. That was a big mistake!
In the morning, I didn’t even notice my computer making these strange noises over in the corner. I thought I had left the tv on and some nonsense talk show was rambling. It wasn’t until I sat down to work that I realize something had taken over my system.
There was a person wearing a strange mask saying help me over and over again on the screen. I could hear me talking in the background, but it wasn’t me. These were stories that I had never read before. It was really weird. I had absolutely no access to my computer at all. I tried rebooting it manually and nothing. Shivers went down my spine when I yanked the cord out of the wall in frustration and the computer wouldn’t stop!
Smoke began pouring out of the back of the computer. I tried to pick up the machine but I burnt my fingertips in the process. Grabbing some potholders from the small lighthouse kitchen, I was able to grasp on to the device and toss it into the sand before it started a fire in the lighthouse. As the waves washed over it, I ran down to fetch it and that is when I realized the city was in chaos.
People were in the streets yelling at their devices from cell phones to laptops. Smashed phones littered the streets. There were a few accidents that I could see and by the sound of the emergency sirens, I’m sure there were even more.
It wasn’t until this morning when everything went back to normal and I was able to see what happened to the podcast. Two episodes were released and I didn’t even do them! The first one I was getting ready to read when all of this weirdness started and the other, hell, I don’t even know where the stories came from. The computer wrote them on their own. The creepiest thing, it used my voice! That wasn’t even me telling the stories the past two days.
I’ve since deleted the episodes because even though AI see
