A Crankenstein Valentine by Samantha Berger (illustrated by Dan Santat) follows a young boy who turns into a green-skinned "Crankenstein" due to his hatred of "mushy gushy" Valentine's Day traditions like heart-shaped food, cards, and school pageants. His day turns around when he meets a fellow "monster" who dislikes the holiday just as much, turning his sour mood sweet.
