Iran Fires on ‘Project Freedom’ and Golden Tempo’s Trainer Talks Winning the Kentucky Derby

Episode 238 Published 1 week, 4 days ago
Description

Adm. Brad Cooper, head of U.S. Central Command, said Iran fired missiles and drones on U.S. commercial vessels and Navy ships in the Strait of Hormuz, although none were hit and no personnel were injured. The attacks came on the first day of “Project Freedom,” a U.S. effort to guide commercial ships through the strait. NBC News Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel explains how the military back-and-forth could impact the ceasefire and ongoing peace negotiations. Plus, Cherie Devaux became the first female trainer to win the Kentucky Derby, when her horse, Golden Tempo, came in first at Churchill Downs this weekend. Devaux joins the show to reflect on the historic achievement and explains how she’ll decide whether to run Golden Tempo at the next Triple Crown race.
