Sl: Živa je stala na pomolu ob Blejskem jezeru, veter pa je rahlo premikal njene svetle lase.
En: Živa stood on the pier by Blejskim jezeru, the breeze gently moving her light hair.

Sl: Pogledala je čez jezero, kjer se je v vodi odsevala podoba otočka s cerkvico.
En: She looked across the lake, where the image of the little island with a church was reflected in the water.

Sl: Pomlad je razcvetele trave barvala v živo zeleno, ptiči pa so prepevali svojo jutranjo pesem.
En: Spring painted the blossoming grass in vivid green, and the birds sang their morning song.

Sl: Bilo je prvega maja, praznik dela, ko so se ljudje zbrali na piknikih in druženjih.
En: It was the first of May, Labor Day, when people gathered for picnics and social events.

Sl: Vendar pa dan za Živo in njenega brata Roka ni bil običajen.
En: However, the day was not ordinary for Živa and her brother Rok.

Sl: Po zadnji nesoglasici se nista veliko pogovarjala.
En: After their last disagreement, they hadn't talked much.

Sl: Živa si je želela, da bi skupaj razjasnila pretekle nesporazume.
En: Živa wished they could clear up the past misunderstandings together.

Sl: "Rok," poklicala je svojega mlajšega brata, ki je ravnokar prišel.
En: "Rok," she called to her younger brother, who had just arrived.

En: The lake is especially calm today."

Sl: "Rok se je nekoliko obotavljal, a nato pokimal.
En: Rok hesitated a bit, but then nodded.

Sl: "Seveda.
En: "Sure.

Sl: Greva.
En: Let's go."

Sl: "Oba sta se usedla v čoln, Živa pa je začela veslati.
En: Both of them sat in the boat, and Živa started rowing.

Sl: Ko sta prispela do sredine jezera, kjer je vladala popolna tišina, je Živa globoko vdihnila in začela pogovor.
En: When they reached the middle of the lake, where complete silence reigned, Živa took a deep breath and started the conversation.

Sl: "Morava se pogovoriti o tistem, kar se je zgodilo v družini," je začela.
En: "We need to talk about what happened in the family," she began.

Sl: Rok je pogledal stran, očitno nepripravljen na ta pogovor.
En: Rok looked away, obviously not ready for this conversation.

En: My career is very important to me."

En: Živa continued, her eyes sorrowful.

Sl: "Vem, da je kariera pomembna, ampak ti si moj brat.
En: "I know your career is important, but you're my brother.

Sl: In družina je prav tako pomembna.
En: And family is just as important."

Sl: "Rok je zavzdihnil.
En: Rok sighed.
