The Pirates needed a response after a rough Cardinals series, and they got exactly that with a weekend sweep of the Cincinnati Reds.

Ashcraft went 7.2 scoreless innings, leaned heavily on a dominant curveball, and continued making the case that he has become Pittsburgh’s clear No. 2 starter behind Paul Skenes.

The guys also discuss Gregory Soto coming up huge out of the bullpen, Chase Burns matching Ashcraft pitch-for-pitch, Konnor Griffin’s late double and speed changing the game, and Oneil Cruz delivering the biggest swing of the night with a two-out RBI single in the eighth.

After getting swept by St. Louis, the Pirates turned around and swept the Reds while outscoring them 27-8 over the series. Now they head west with some momentum, a much cleaner feeling around the homestand, and a pitching staff that once again carried the day.
