Description
When Faith Isn’t About Pressure
Sometimes when people—or even institutions—want us to act in certain ways,
they rely on a mix of pressure and reward.
Consequences if we don’t.
Promises if we do.
But 1 Peter speaks in a different way.
“if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good…” — 1 Peter 2:3
There’s no threat here.
No promise being held out in front of us.
Just an invitation:
to notice what we’ve already experienced,
to pay attention to what has been revealed to us,
and to respond from there.
Not out of pressure—
but out of recognition.
And as we do,
we’re invited into something deeper.
Each of us, like living stones,
being brought together—
not to stand alone,
but to become part of something shared.
Something shaped not by control,
but by goodness and compassion.
And in that,
we begin to see more clearly—
that our experience matters,
but it is not the whole.
We are part of something larger.
I’m Horace McMillon.
This is 60 Seconds of Hope.
Peace be with you.
