Hope in the Media – Moya Brennan’s Faith – Dónal O’Sullivan-Latchford & Father Eamonn McCarthy

Published 2 weeks ago
Description

Donal O’Sullivan Latchford and Fr. Eamonn McCarthy open with the death of Moya Brennan — lead singer of Clannad, sister of Enya — and the remarkable depth of faith that ran through her life: her years of drift, her return to God in a Donegal chapel, and a sentence from her memoir that stopped both presenters: “We were always praying, but we don’t actually talk to Him.” A searching discussion follows on what that distinction means. The programme then turns to a RTÉ documentary revisiting the Savita Halappanavar case, and asks what it omitted; and to photographs of Israeli soldiers desecrating a crucifix in Lebanon, and Netanyahu’s condemnation. The show closes with an unexpected grace note: an Emily in Paris star posting an image of St. Charbel of Lebanon.
