Description
The Great Reversal: Moving from Curse to Blessing
In this third installment of the "From the Cross to Pentecost" series, Pastor Steve Dow dives into Romans chapter 5 to explain the profound transition from the condemnation of Adam to the justification found in Jesus Christ. Using the famous 86-year drought of the Boston Red Sox as a starting point, Pastor Dow illustrates how a "curse" can define a culture until someone finally breaks it. However, unlike sports legends, the work of Jesus is not a matter of luck but a finished work of grace that applies to every believer today.
-- The first Adam brought sin and death into the world through one act of disobedience, but the second Adam, Jesus, brought life and righteousness through one act of obedience.
-- Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, meaning there is no level of sin or failure that the grace of God cannot overcome.
-- The "generational curse" is a false doctrine often used to excuse bad behavior; biblical freedom means the curse of sin stops the moment the blood of Jesus covers your life.
-- Being a "new creation" means old things have passed away and you are no longer defined by the addictions, lies, or failures of your ancestors.
-- True freedom in Christ means being "free indeed," not just partially liberated, but completely transformed in your mind, actions, and identity.
